A NEW pool table is taking pride of place in Oakdale’s games room giving clients a different way to spend their time during the cold winter months.
The 5ft folding table was the subject of a fundraising drive and purchased from donations that were topped up by Turning Lives Around’s Charity Partner, credit management company Lowell.
Oakdale is one of TLA’s intensive support environments (ISE) for men providing accommodation and support 24/7 for 11 clients as part of the Beacon Leeds service for homeless adults with multiple disadvantages.
Team Leader Rose Clayton explained: “The pool table was requested by clients who felt it would be better used than the air hockey table we had previously.
“It gives clients another indoor activity which is welcome at this time of year. They can book hour long sessions and go into the games room in pairs to play pool. Some use it just to pass the time while others find it therapeutic.”
A big ‘thank you’ to those who donated and to Lowell for helping to buy the table. If you would like to donate to TLA and help widen the horizons and opportunities open to our clients, check out our localgiving page Turning Lives Around Ltd | Localgiving.
