SANTA had a helping hand this year courtesy of employees at Lowell in Leeds.
The credit management company collated 65 Christmas boxes packed with day-to-day essentials, winter weather protection, supermarket giftcards and tasty festive treats to be given to Turning Lives Around clients over the festive period.
Lowell have been supporting TLA throughout 2023 after employees nominated them as one of their charity partners. As well as holding a range of fundraising events and providing financial support, employees have volunteered at various TLA locations across Leeds, decorating and refurbishing communal facilities as well as improving gardens and outside spaces.
Louise Blamires, Communications Lead at Lowell, was one of the employees who filled and donated a box. She said: “I wanted to put a box together to hopefully bring a little bit of happiness to someone who’s in a difficult period of their life. Everyone deserves a gift at Christmas and it’s nice to give something back when you have the opportunity.”
The Christmas Boxes received a warm welcome at TLA HQ from where they were passed on to clients at Carr Beck, the charity’s intensive support accommodation for women with alcohol dependency, Our Way Leeds emergency accommodation for young people and Woodside Supported Housing for adults with mental ill health.
“Lowell and their people have been true partners in every sense of the word in 2023 and we look forward to their continued support into 2024. Christmas can be a difficult time of year for those who are homeless or at risk of losing their home. These boxes will help bring some joy and empathy and will be much appreciated,” commented TLA Chief Executive Steve Hoey.
